Julia Roberts to star in ‘The Normal Heart’

London, Jan 24 (IANS) Hollywood actress Julia Roberts has been roped in to star in Ryan Murphy’s new film “The Normal Heart”.
The Oscar-winning actress is being joined by Alec Baldwin, Matt Bomer and Jim Parsons in the movie, which chronicles the rise of the HIV/AIDS crisis in New York in the 1980s.
In the film, Roberts will play the role of wheel-chair bound doctor Emma Brookner, reports contactmusic.com.
Larry Kramer has written the script for the movie, which is being adapted from the theatre show of the same name.
Mark Ruffalo has already been signed up for the role of Ned Weeks in the movie.
Alec Baldwin will portray Mark’s brother, a lawyer who is struggling to deal with his sibling’s sexuality.
It will be the second time Ryan and Julia have worked together following the success of “Eat Pray Love”.

Give fur the cold shoulder, says Penelope Cruz

London, Feb 2 (IANS) Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz has condemned the use of real fur while posing for an anti-fur campaign for PETA in New York.
The campaign shoot will be displayed on a 70-foot billboard outside New York’s Madison Square Garden throughout the New York Fashion Week February 9 to 16. Milan and London will also be seeing similar campaigns, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Yvonne Taylor, senior programme manager for PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals), said: “Penelope Cruz has appeared on every ‘best-dressed’ list in the world, and the one thing you’ll never see her wearing is fur.”
“One couldn’t ask for a more fitting emblem of the modern, glamorous woman who knows that there’s nothing more beautiful than a woman who has a look that kills without anyone having to die for it.”
Cruz isn’t the only famous name fighting for animal rights, celebs like Kelly Osbourne, Pink, Pamela Anderson and Eva Mendes have all been a part of PETA campaigns in the past.

Kristen Stewart Tops Forbes’ List of Hollywood’s Highest-Paid Actresses

Starring in the “Twilight” films has really paid off for Kristen Stewart. She ranks first on Forbes magazine’s new list of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.
According to the magazine’s calculations, Stewart earned $34.5 million between May 2011 and May 2012, thanks to her work on the last two “Twilight” movies, plus the current hit “Snow White and the Huntsman.” Cameron Diaz ranks second at $34 million, and Sandra Bullock rounds out the top three at $25 million.
Forbes considered the actresses’ salaries, residuals and endorsements in compiling its list. An interesting stat: the top 10 highest-paid actresses made a total of $200 million, compared to $361 million collected by the top 10 highest-paid actors.
